On the aticle First Account Narratives: Segregated Education, it states
“Ralph Jennings’ father, and the janitor took me in the basement. In the boiler room and they had a strap. This strap was like a razor strap that you use in the barbershop, but it had holes in it. They’d pull your pants down and expose your bare skin and whip you. That strap would suck, when they pulled it away, and cause this terrible pain. So after that whipping, I jumped the fence and ran home to Providence and told my mother. That was the end of my stay at Brumfield.”
I found this story told by Clifford Boxley to be very sad. I can not believe that after all the complements the school back then recieved on this website, that there would be such violence. Although, I do know that whipping existed in education back then and was found to be okay to do. I still do not agree that a teacher should be allowed to beat a child to make them so miserable where they do not want to come back to school. School is supposed to be a place where young people want to go and be educated not fear.

A couple days ago our class had a discussion over what President Bush is doing in Iraq. Many of my class mates felt that George Bush should have never “stuck his nose where it did not belong” or that he should have simply “minded his own buisness.” I do not agree with my classmates because, if George Bush let Iraq continue the way it was going then we would be risking America into facing another tragedy such as the one on September 11th. In my opinion, George Bush is simply looking over for his country and taking care of his responsiility to keep his people safe.
The follow up question over what is going on in Iraq is if George Bush should put more troops into Iraq to straighten it out or pull out. I do not have a clear answer to this question because, they will both have different effects over Iraq. If the president decides to pull out the Iraq will fall apart and the massive deaths will continue to increase and occur which would not solve anything. However, if the president deicided to put more troops into Iraq then the country would be united into a deocratic government faster. Although, if there are more troops put in iraq then the people in Iraq might become dependent over the American troops in which may cause a problem. Therefore, I do not have a clear answer to this question that is proposed to the public to have their own thoughts and opinions about.
A current article in cnn.com reported that,
”"Mr. Hussein got a fairer trial than he ever would have allowed in his courts. But Iraq got neither the full justice nor the full fairness it deserved. President Bush overreached in calling the trial a milestone in the Iraqi people’s efforts to replace the rule of a tyrant with the rule of law.”
In this article posted on cnn.com it is about how America gave Mr. Hussein the sentence to death. This decision that was made is very important because, the court in America has withheld Mr. Hussein illegally for a long time. They gave him the chance to speakand defend himself before they executed him because, The United States of America did not want to ruin their image of being a fair and respectable country. Although, it is not final whether or not the trial is over, it is clear that it is comming to and end. In my personal stance I hope Mr. Hussein is tortured and deserves the treatment they give him for messing up soo many families lives and his country.
