aw! i'm sorry. The whole over the telephone with those rude operators happens to about everyone who has an accent! but I think that english accents are pretty cool! alot of people use it to sound proper and high class which in my opinion is a good then because, it complements your culture. However, there is always the downside of people who do not like the way other people speak just because it is different and accented. I wish there would be a solution to treat these ignorant rude people in the society. =(

I loved reading your blog!! I also walk around the student center and ask myself why we are so often separated by race. I believe that even if we all try to mix together, there will always be the "invisible line" as you said in your blog. I think that people in a certain race can relate to each other and have an easier time getting to know one another. But if we take that extra step and go beyond "easy," maybe the student center can be a place thats not so intimidating. Also, the story about the cell phones is harsh. My mom has a heavy english accent and sometimes operators think of her as a snobby person without even knowing her just by the way she talks. Its rude.

Like Ryan said, I definately agree that we're friends with who we're comfortable with, and unfortunately that's usually people of our own race. This kind of thing can really drive people apart, and a lot of people in other places in the US too don't hang out with people that are any different from themeselves.

Wow, I really liked all that you said. It's deffently true that people tend to sit and hang out with people they feel "comfertable" with in the student center. Everyone notices the segregation, and its a huge reason why so many fights/arguments break out. I think its terrible how things turned out in our school regarding racial issues. Not only do they exist in our school, but the same problems in the Student Center occur across the nation.

[...] Cindy: Another example that really bothers me but, I can not do much about is the segregation in the Student Center! This segregation is not written to exist but, it exists mentally. What I mean by this is that people sit with people who they feel comfortable with, relate to, and do not feel opressed by. The insecuirty between diverse people is the streotypes and the feeling of not wanting to deal with them. I do not blame people for sitting with people who they are most comfotable with because, it’s their free choice. However, I find it extrodinary how it always comes down to most people sitting with other people of their race. [...]
